American Legion Championship Baseball is coming to Monroe County again in 2026. It will be even more special this year, because we will be having not one, but two tournaments.
First is the Senior tournament scheduled for July 25 through July 30, with a makeup up day on July 31.
Then comes the Junior tournament scheduled for July 31 through August 2 with a makeup day on August 3.
Both tournaments will be held at Penfield High School.
More information to come.

2026 Tournament Volunteer Kickoff Meeting
2026 Tournament Volunteer Kickoff Meeting had a good turnout, with representatives from the State, District, County as well as 7 posts across the county/district. We also had representatives from Rochester VOC, Eagle Star Housing, Monroe Community Hospital and Penfield High School.
We announced the first two charities that we plan on supporting: Otto Phoenix House and Eagle Star Housing.
We have team leaders for 16 of the 20 teams we need to run the events. Hope to have more soon.

2026 Dept of NY ALB Championship Tournaments Kickoff Meeting Notes
, We had a good turnout. Over 40 people attended. We had representatives from the State, District, County as well as 7 posts across the county/district. We also had representatives from Rochester VOC, Eagle Star Housing, Monroe Community Hospital and Penfield High School. Rochester Sports Commission could not attend this meeting but will be working with us from here on out.
Dates for Tournaments are:
Senior: July 25 – 29 with a rain day on July 30
Junior: Jul 31 - Aug 2 with a rain day on Aug 3
We announced the first two charities that we plan on supporting:
Otto Phoenix House and Eagle Star Housing
We still need a lot of volunteers and especially team leaders
Areas we have team leaders: (9)
First Pitch - Dan Perna (Post 468 Commander)
T-shirt sales – Karen Heintz (Post 468 Aux)
50-50 – Helen Eisenberg (Post 468 Aux)
Recruiters – Joe Amorese (Post 468/Riders)
Public Information – Erika Zobel (Post 468 Aux), We made several contacts with the media over the last few years, and we are going to leverage them heavily.
Photography – Patty Elliott (VFW Post 4658 Aux)
Color Guard – George Dadson (Post 468), we would like a list of all the Color/Honor Guards in the district as well as their availability for the tournament.
Safety – Rick Craft (Post 468)
National Anthem – Dawn Teravainen (Post 468)
Areas we need team leaders: (11)
Veteran visits/ VIPs / Families, Another area that will require a lot of volunteers. We will have a lot of veterans there as well as veteran families as our guests. We could use scouts, our volunteers, students, etc. to help take care of them.
Sponsorship – Joan Brandenburg from VOC has volunteered to help us put in the sponsorship requests for the major corporations. We really need someone who has fundraising experience and is willing to run the team, but a motivated individual willing to learn/lead is good.
Ad Book - We have some ideas but need a team to make this work. We would like to include businesses from around the district, not just Monroe County.
Volunteers
Food Vendors, Work with Penfield HS
Volunteer Catering
Gate/ Access Control/ Security
Parking/ Signage
Banquet(s)
Scouts/ Ball Shagging
Water
Ideas brought up
Possibility of getting a company like Wegman’s to cater the event as their sponsorship
Using MCC culinary students as caterers. They would be earning credit for their culinary certificate, and we would have to just pay for supplies – Sarge Mitchell.
We determined a special way to leverage our riders in the events.
Next meeting is scheduled for March 22 at Post 468 at 3PM
